Invitation

Invitation to race for the 5th International Budapest Cup at the 25th count Széchenyi István Memorial Regatta

Dear Rowing Friend!

The Danubius National Boating Club, the Hungarian Rowing Federation and the Budapest Rowing Federation is proud to present the season opening count Széchenyi István Memorial Regatta and the Budapest Cup international long distance head regatta for eights and women quads!

The count István Széchenyi Memorial Regatta has been for more than 25 years, the official season opening regatta of the Hungarian rowing season.

The main race of Saturday will be the 5th Budapest Cup, which is the only international head regatta of Hungary. Besides high performance competitors, who are training on daily basis, master teams represent the greatest number at the starting line. University and junior teams compete also in the 4.5 km race starting 20 seconds.

The program continues also on the shore after the regatta! In 2015 the extra events will be an ergometer relay, a rope pulling competition between the teams and 3 short presentations will be done by top coaches from the region as panel discussions.

It is a great honor to inform you that in 2015 for the first time the Capital Cup will be organised. Together with the “Wiener Achter” held in Vienna and the “Univerzitna Regata” held in Bratislava in the spring of 2015 the eights entering the Budapest Cup will enter also the Capital Cup competition where teams will be ranked according their results in all three events. This is the first co-organised rowing cup in decades in the region and we look forward to help bring rowers together from the region and to have a great time, while promoting and developing the regions rowing sport!

Please check and like our Facebook page to get continuous news about the event.

We hope that you will come and race or just visit us on the Margaret Island with family and friends and we will have a great day watching an excellent regatta!

Kind Regards,
